Welcome to The Honor Roll School. We are a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, day school that provides an enriched, developmentally appropriate, and highly challenging education for all of our students. Presently we have an enrollment of about 610 students from richly diverse ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds in our two program levels – early childhood, ages two through five and elementary/middle school, grades kindergarten through eight.
We are tremendously proud of our reputation for providing top quality education. There are many reasons for our ongoing success, including the high caliber of our students and faculty, and the support of our parents. We are all deeply committed to instilling a passion for excellence in our students and our graduates exemplify our success.
At The Honor Roll School, we emphasize the values of honor, respect and responsibility in addition to the de rigueur expectations of academic excellence. We expect students to have the courage to tell the truth and to be forthright, even in the most difficult of circumstances. We expect students to be tolerant and understanding of individual differences, and to treat peers, teachers and others with the respect to which they are entitled. We also expect students to pursue the ideals of personal integrity, initiative and diligence.
The acceptance of these values among our students has allowed us to create a safe, caring and trusting environment in which our students are able to grow and learn. One of the marvelous results of this philosophy has been the creation of an “open school” wherein all areas of the school are considered sacrosanct and students and staff live in a harmony of mutual respect. This is something of which THRS students and faculty are particularly proud.
The faculty plays a vital role in maintaining this warm, open, industrious and happy learning environment. They were chosen not only for their expertise in teaching and learning, but also for their ability to model the values that we have espoused. Their expectations are as high as their integrity, and the students and parents see them as caring, approachable, understanding and supportive.
THRS is about people, academics, community, and individual growth. Our programs emphasize the essential and necessary skills and knowledge that students need to be successful in a 21st Century learning environment: mastery of core content, solid study habits, effective communication, full understanding of technology and its benefits, and personal organization. In combination with our rigorous instructional model, these essential skills build a foundation of self-confidence and achievement whereby our graduates are able to confidently enroll in a high school of their choice.
We invite you to visit our school. Ask questions of our excellent teaching staff, our students, and our parents. You will quickly learn that this is a school with a family-like atmosphere, one that prepares its students for the next level of their educational journey.
