We believe children should be able to draw pictures and conclusions.
Elementary School (Grades K-4)
Elementary education at The Honor Roll School is designed to continually build on skills as they are mastered. The goal is to provide students with a solid foundation in the core subjects, while gradually increasing their ability to work independently. After all, even with all of the resources and technology in today’s schools, it is still critical to focus on the fundamentals. We begin by teaching the basics: reading and phonics, addition, and subtraction. With those foundations in place, students then work on skills such as reading comprehension and basic analysis, as well as a mastery of all four mathematical operations. These students will continue their development of Spanish.
Our third and fourth grade students tackle new challenges. Their writing skills become more sophisticated as they begin to write in different genres. They also develop verbal communication with the opportunity to deliver presentations. In science, they are introduced to the scientific method of investigation in physical, earth, and life sciences. In fourth grade, students have the chance of pursuing French as their foreign language. They also participate in a vigorous physical education program and stimulating, creative fine arts activities. When our students complete the 4th grade, it is easy to see why they are so well prepared to succeed at the next level of education.
