Mandarin Home / Programs / Mandarin Program Why Mandarin? At The Honor Roll School, we are proud to offer a fun and interactive Mandarin program for our preschool students. Learning a second language at a young age is a proven way to boost communication skills, cognitive development, and cultural awareness. Our students enjoy sessions filled with songs, stories, and activities like arts and crafts, traditional dance, and games. These activities help them learn Mandarin words and phrases while playfully exploring the culture. Our skilled teachers use simplified Mandarin characters. This makes it easy for beginners to follow. The program is a great way to help your child build language skills and explore a new culture! Frequently Asked Questions Is this Mandarin program suitable for children new to the language? Yes! Our Mandarin program is great for preschoolers, even if they have little or no experience with Mandarin. We use fun games, small group lessons, and hands-on activities to help them learn. They also build their confidence and social skills. These are the best years for learning a new language! Can children keep learning Mandarin after preschool? Yes! Our students can keep learning Mandarin in our private elementary and middle school. Our goal is to help them become bilingual and learn about the culture in an exciting way. How often are Mandarin classes? Classes occur five days a week. This gives our students daily practice through songs, stories, games, and cultural activities. How much does the Mandarin program cost? The program costs $150 per month/per child. This includes daily lessons that build a strong foundation in language learning and cultural exploration. Why do you teach simplified Chinese characters instead of traditional ones? Simplified characters are the main writing system in schools and publications in mainland China. They are also used by the United Nations. While we focus on simplified characters, we can adjust for children who have learned traditional characters. What ages can participate in the Mandarin program? Our program is available for children ages 3, 4, and 5 years.
